Candle Light Vigil

On december 9, 2007 we had a candle Light Vigil in the central park of Chisinau.

This event was consacrated to the victims of Domestic Violence. NPW Volunteers participated at a "16 days against domestic violence" and delivered trainings on Domestic Violence and Gender Equality.

Candle Light Vigil gave a possibility to different organizaitons to present their work and how they can help victims of domestic violence or to teach others how to prevent domestic violence situation.

People in Moldova just need a small help to be able to defend their rights and to stand for what they believe. We as a team teach others what we know and we realy hope to help people understand that they have the power to say NO or to stop something that they don't like!!!

Hey Costea and Olga you did a great job with the role play!! Many people understood our message due to this role play!
Vlad and Vika you also did a great job! We all were afraid of speaking in front of people, but you did it great!!!!

All the volunteers did a great great job!!!!! We are the best volunteer's team!!!! and we are proving it every day!!

Meeting with SSL graduates

After Summer School for Developing Leadership skills (SSL) we were staing in touch with the SSL participants. It was amazing to see how their lives are changing as a result of 1 week Summer School! They are more opened, confident in what are they doing! They are looking for more opportunities here in Moldova and not abroad!

Also many of them managed to do seminars in their villages and show other people that even in Moldova you can have a better life and be successfull.

We had a meeting with all the girls in October in Chisinau. At the meeting we saw how much their life changed and that now all the girls have at least 1 goal to accomplish. Many of them had as a goal to enter to university and succed! Some of them found a part time job and are volunteers at different organizations! A few girls already worked as conselors at a camp during summer and used our information to teach others.

I can say only one thing: WE WORKED A LOT during SSL!!!! But now we can see our results!!!! It is great to be able to make a difference and we did it!!

Shooting Bar :)

Spending time with friends is GREAT!

As always we are not only working, but also having fun sometimes :) We play fribee and visit diferent places in Moldova! Some time ago Aliona told me about a shooting bar in Chisinau.
So a few weeks ago we decided to go to "Magnum" Shooting Bar! It was so great and interesting!
For the first time I had a gun in my hands and also it was exciting to try shooting and have good results :) It was a good teambuilding for everyone that was with us!
Also there were some staff from army and we could take some pictures!

The place is very nice and if you do not want to shoot you can have a cup of tea or beer :)
Also you can see there on the walls different types of guns and bullets. You can call it a "small" museum.

TARE Camp

A lot of activities during summer :)

I spent 5 days at TARE (Tinere Active Responsabile Egale) Camp. It was a great chance to meet new girls and to spent great time! Costea and I were there as conselor and as Winrock volunteers. This is my third year as I do TARE and I love it very much! I can meet there new people and learn a lot of new things!

Also it was so beautiful to see how girls are interested in what are you telling them and it makes you understand that what are you doing is worth it and many people need our work as volunteers.

If more people would share the information they have, our country would be a better place to leave and much less people would go abroad, knowing that here is also possible to havea future and be near their families and friends.

TARE camp was a great opportunity to show the girls that they can make the difference and their future is in their hands!!!

Summer School of Leadership

During 7 days we, NPW and Peace Corps Volunteers conducted a School of Leadership for young girls from remote rural areas and Vocational Schools.

It was very interesting and amazing to see the progress of the girls in different areas of activities. They learned a lot of new information like How to start a business, marketing, budgeting, business strategy, presentation skills and many other topics.

A very important part of the program was Computer Lesson where girls had the chance to learn how to use Microsoft Word in writing their CVs. Many of them were afraid of Computers in the first day, thinking they will break it and will have to pay, but till the end of the week they were confident in using it.

It is great to know that we were able to help someone in becoming a new person! Help them believe in themselves and create a better future for them and their relatives.

I realy hope to see them in a few years having a successful life!
