Shooting Bar :)

Spending time with friends is GREAT!

As always we are not only working, but also having fun sometimes :) We play fribee and visit diferent places in Moldova! Some time ago Aliona told me about a shooting bar in Chisinau.
So a few weeks ago we decided to go to "Magnum" Shooting Bar! It was so great and interesting!
For the first time I had a gun in my hands and also it was exciting to try shooting and have good results :) It was a good teambuilding for everyone that was with us!
Also there were some staff from army and we could take some pictures!

The place is very nice and if you do not want to shoot you can have a cup of tea or beer :)
Also you can see there on the walls different types of guns and bullets. You can call it a "small" museum.

TARE Camp

A lot of activities during summer :)

I spent 5 days at TARE (Tinere Active Responsabile Egale) Camp. It was a great chance to meet new girls and to spent great time! Costea and I were there as conselor and as Winrock volunteers. This is my third year as I do TARE and I love it very much! I can meet there new people and learn a lot of new things!

Also it was so beautiful to see how girls are interested in what are you telling them and it makes you understand that what are you doing is worth it and many people need our work as volunteers.

If more people would share the information they have, our country would be a better place to leave and much less people would go abroad, knowing that here is also possible to havea future and be near their families and friends.

TARE camp was a great opportunity to show the girls that they can make the difference and their future is in their hands!!!

Summer School of Leadership

During 7 days we, NPW and Peace Corps Volunteers conducted a School of Leadership for young girls from remote rural areas and Vocational Schools.

It was very interesting and amazing to see the progress of the girls in different areas of activities. They learned a lot of new information like How to start a business, marketing, budgeting, business strategy, presentation skills and many other topics.

A very important part of the program was Computer Lesson where girls had the chance to learn how to use Microsoft Word in writing their CVs. Many of them were afraid of Computers in the first day, thinking they will break it and will have to pay, but till the end of the week they were confident in using it.

It is great to know that we were able to help someone in becoming a new person! Help them believe in themselves and create a better future for them and their relatives.

I realy hope to see them in a few years having a successful life!

Volunteer's impresions on "Peer Perspectives"School

First of all our new volunteers will tell their impresions:
Olga's impressions:
Each of us deserves something good after a crash. I always wanted to do somethinkg different from others, the same extra-school staff were borring for me. And such a chance appeared in January, when a person that I thank (Peter Maers) told me about the grea things NPW volunteers o and adviced me to appy.
Volunteer? This was for sure something different. I took some time to think and decided to try.

I was very happy when Aliona, volunteer's coordinator invited me to a monthly meeting of volunteers. The most difficult moment was infront. I was thinking that I will meet very serious people that will not be happy to see new people around. But, to my surprise, I was wrong, not that they are not serious, they are but also they are friendly. All the volunteers recieved us very nice and we were able to get involved into their activities. I have learned a lot since then and developed new skills.

Thank you one more time to all volunteers and to Aliona for the given chance to prove what I can.

Vika's impressions:

For me Winrock International's New Perspectives for Women Project was appeared like a light in a dark road. I was going to expload anytime if I would continue going on the same road: school-France Alliance-home and the same everyday! At the begining, Olga's idea of becoming volunteers seemed not a serious one. But I send my CV and I was invited to a monthly meeting. I was very nervous, but immediatly after I saw what an amazing attitude of volunteers toward 3 new people and how easy they accepted, even if we are younger :)

In 3 months I have learned so much that I would never learn in 3 years of school: different information, statistics, I have developed communication skills. Volunteers became my second family where I feel appreciated and involved. That is why I thank them for the given chance and for their friendship!

Nicoleta's impressions:
I came at the “New Perspectives for Women” Project at the end of February this year, so I'm a really fresh volunteer. I was very lucky to find out about Winrock organization and this project from my friend Peter Myers. I feel that I've changed in a good way thanks to it.

The most important thing that I see in this school is the freedom of expression that you're being given. You can say whatever you think, give your opinion, share impressions, of course as long as what you say is motivated, explained with examples and I find this great. Activities that we have are seminars, trainings, Frisbee, English Club, trips. The moment which I find really exciting during my "serious" activities is the moment when I have to be in front of young girls giving useful information at the seminars I conduct. It is great to see at the end of the seminar, happy faces which would like to have a cup of tea with you, spend time with you because they liked the information you gave them, the games, the way you conducted the training and you want of course to come back with more information.

Another aspect of being a volunteer is the fact that you are given the chance to meet new interesting people with experience in different domains from whom you can learn a
lot. In order to develop a well-balanced personality at this age (17 -25 years), it is very important to be in contact with informed people that could share things they know with you. I have also made a lot of friends in this school, very good friends without whom I couldn't imagine my life going on. Even if in August I leave Moldova for The USA for a year I'm sure that when I'll come back I'll continue being a volunteer in this organization. I encourage each person to become a volunteer! Together we can make the world a better place!

Volunteers in Regions

Our main goal as volunteers at New Perspectives for Women is to inform girls aged 16-25 about the risks of going illigal abroad and tell them about the problem of Human Trafficking that exists not only in Moldova but in the whole world.

One recently visited village was Susleni- Costik and Maria did there an interactive discussion on Human Traffcking. Girls learned about the Trafficking stages and where one should address to find out that the contract or information about a job is real and legal. Aslo they fund out how the Project can help them build their future here in Moldova with their family and friends near.

Also another villages we visited were Molesti and Peresecina. This villages were visited twice: first time we spoked about Human Trafficking and alternatives of going abroad; second time we spoked about posibilities of employment after graduating the school, where to look for a job, how to write a CV and Cover Letter, How to present to an inteview? This things are important to know because what ever you decide to do: to enter to university or find a job you need to know this things.

English Club at NPW School of Volunteers

We as volunteers at Winrock International need to practice our english language. So Aliona our coordinator created an English Club for us. This club is conducted by Charles a volunteer at Peace Corps. He has different types of activities every lesson. Interesting games like cache the phraze and other games that help us improve speaking and to develop communication skills.

Also sometime we discuss topics relating to what is happening in our country or in the world. Most recently we spoked about moldova's elections. It is very hard to make a good decision when you have 19 people asking to vote for them. Our people are desapointed and do not want to vote.

From time to time Charles brings some team games that help us to build our team. Its great to have this club and to be able to learn and practice our english. And for this opportunity we have to say thank you to Aliona our Volunteer coordinator.

Having Fun at Frisbee

As a team building activity we play Frisbee once per week. Its a sport game for people that are not afraid of getting hurt. Why do I say so? cause I was hurt twice since we began to play frisbee. First time I hurt my leg and after 2 weeks I hurt my nose- one of our vew volunteers was trying to through frisbee to me and as an accident I hurt my nose. Since then I try just to look how my friends play this crazy game :)

Some day I will began to play frisbee again :) because its very interesting game and useful for your health.

Is "Peer Perspectives" School only work?

"Peer Perspectives" School of Volunteers is not only work and trainings and nothing for fun! We have a great team of volunteers that are eager to have fun and also to learn.

Recently we had a trip to Tipova village to see waterfalls and caves. It was beautiful and we had the chance to get to know each others better to play games and to spend great time together!Tipova village has beautiful places and its so quite there! We saw 4 waterfalls and monastery in a cave that looks so beautiful and old. People from nearest villages were swimming in the waterfalls even if it was cold outside. It was a wonderful experience and we look forward going back. Also we plan to visit Saharna village that is very beautiful too :)

Volunteer!!!

Hi! my name is Ana.

I'm a volunteer at Winrock International's New Perspectives for Women project in Moldova.
New Perspectives for Women Project has the purpose to prevent Human Trafficking in Moldova and to help young girls aged 16-25 to build a future here in Moldova near their families and with out trying to go abroad and become victims of Human Trafficking.

It's so great to have such a program in my country and to be able to fight for a change. Life is beautiful if you make it so! Our School of Volunteers "Peer Perspectives" started in December 2006, and during one month we had trainings and graduated! The most interesting started: after successful test presentations we started going into villages to share our experience with others!
My first visited village was village Cupcini in Edinet region. It was my first presentation and I was nervous, but having our coordinator near helped in doing the best we could. We had an interactive discussion with girls from a board school. They were so happy to see us and to talk to us! After this visit more and more schools were visited by NPW volunteers and more and more girls learned about human trafficking and domesctic violence.
